Philip – that is so cool putting a v-6 into a small sports car. The v-8s in the cobras allowed them to run very fast…. The AC Bristol Cobras had small engines. Later bodies were fiberglass and popular. Hill climbers and dirt racers preferred these light bodies and small but powerful engines.

In reply to John Lucas. I recall these were built in California and passed the CARB requirements by using engines built later than the donor Miatas. So, no they don't violate the EPA Clean Air Act. I built a '79 Triumph TR7 with a Buick 231 CI V6 and TH700R4 autobox using all 1979 or newer components and passed the SMOG referee and received my CARB sticker so it could be, and was, smog checked annually. It has always been cleaner than the OEM four banger I replaced.
