Sounds like potential trouble.

Our best advice is to collect as much information as possible, speak with the seller over the phone, and ask if the seller will accept PayPal as a method of payment. eBay Motors will not be a part of the transaction unless the seller lists on our site.

If you have the smallest doubt about the validity of the sale, walk away. There are many, many cars/trucks on the market. If the deal sounds too good to be true, then it is probably something you want to avoid.

Hi, I was looking for a used vehicle on craiglist and found something of interest. Only thing is the vehicle is located in Utah (so the seller says), seller says that they will have the vehicle shipped to me and to use ebay motors as the 3rd party to accept payment. My question? Is this a familiar process to you, or is this a scam. Very good price on the vehicle but it was listed under the san Francisco bay area and the vehicle is actually in Utah.

Please respond as quickly as possible. I have never heard of anything like this before.

In reply to Mark. I have a person trying to sell me a car from craigslist to ebay. They are being deployed soon and need to get the cash sooner than later. You can not go from one platform to another (meaning CL to ebay)and want to use their VProPlan. Only if it is purchased through ebay and says "WON" on your account if it was an auctioned car can you use their VPP. This car had all its papers and the extra keys and everything else that goes with it. So I opted out. Better safe than sorry. I mentioned using PP over a money pak and never heard back...

If you suspect fraud or possible scam, try one of the following resources:

1. [email protected] – They can contact the webhosting service and shut down any emails/urls related to fraudulent emails.

2. EU GAP – Can contact Polish Bank and notify the bank of the fraud funds being sent to a bogus account (potentially shutting down the account, or identifying a suspect)

3. e-crime investigations group, eBay has an on-going investigation on Spoof/off-site motors fraud, so they may be able to gather some additional insight or value if you present evidence of a possible scam.

Total scam. eBay does not handle inventory of any type nor does eBay warehouse #31 exist.
