Her car is about ready to die and she can’t find anything else like what she has. She is a small girl.. only 4 and a feet tall and 100 lbs., so a van is way too big. She was thinking about a Honda Civic hatchback and getting the door behind her made into a suicide door. Is that possible?

Comment on How to Test an Alternator (And Fix It!) by Daniel Gray http://cqheayo.com/motors/blog/how-to-test-an-alternator-and-fix-it/#comment-1974365 Tue, 10 Jun 2025 12:43:55 +0000 https://www.ebaymotorsblog.com/motors/blog/?p=1113985#comment-1974365 In reply to Aldo Cugnini.

The difficulty will vary from vehicle to vehicle. Late model cars with tight quarters under the hood can be significantly more difficult than older cars. It’s always a good idea to watch a YouTube how-to video for your specific vehicle before purchasing parts.

I just had one replaced in my Honda CR-V and the mechanics used a vehicle lift and had to remove many components to get the faulty one out. Replacing it also requires special tools to properly tension the belts.

They are too far off the quarter panel, and too close to the center of the car. Was the car rear ended and the new lights installed in the wrong location?

I wouldn't assume this was from an accident. I owned this exact year/model/color car and bought it in 1980. Afterwards discovered both of the front fenders had actually rusted out on the tops an were bondo-'d. So, this does not surprise me… Japanese cars from the mid '70s were very prone to rust.

I had it happen once on a ’99 Civic. It took a while to trace it down, turned out to be distributor related.
