Better Than a Golf Cart
Downsized electric versions of traditional SUVS and pickups are cost-effective alternatives to expensive side-by-side (SxS) machines and golf carts. They are economical, street-legal vehicles ideal for running errands around town, traveling the neighborhood, or using as a light utility vehicle.
Nobody’s quite agreed on what to call this segment. Some say miniature EV (MEV), others prefer neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV), and you’ll also hear low-speed electric vehicle (LSEV). For the most part, these terms all point to the same idea: compact, street-legal electric vehicles designed for short trips and local use. Whatever you call them, the category was valued at $9 billion in 2023, and it’s expected to triple by 2032. So don’t be surprised if more creative models like the MEDA Small show up on your block.

Just shy of eight feet, the 2026 MEDA Small is precisely what the name says: small. It is considered a four-seater, although adult backseat passengers might feel squeezed. Think of the MEDA Small as a comfortable two-seater with an extended cab.
Despite its diminutive size, the MEDA Small has a big personality. It has modern lines, high-gloss paint, a clean interior, and an intuitive dash. The $6,495 Buy-It-Now price includes a solid list of standard equipment:
- Climate-controlled cabin with air conditioning
- Digital dash display with backup camera
- Sunroof
- Roof-mounted LED projector lights
- Removable doors
Tiny But Mighty
A 3-kWh lithium battery powers the MEDA’s 6-kW motor. It has a range of 40 miles when fully charged via a standard 110V plug. Its two-speed transmission features high and low settings.
Top speed is limited to 25 mph for DOT compliance. The MEDA Small comes with a 17-digit VIN for registering the vehicle. Check local regulations to learn which roads are legal for a low-speed vehicle. Commonly, it’s 25-mph zones.
The MEDA Small weighs 688 pounds, making it easy to load in a trailer or carry in a full-size pickup. For comparison, utility side-by-side models range from 1,000 to 2,200 pounds. Golf carts weigh between 900 and 1,200 pounds.
This MEDA replaced its modest stock wheels with wider rims and 205/35-12 tires. The stock wheels are included in the sale.
Sure, it’s not going to win a drag race or haul a big lumber supply, but the MEDA Small isn’t trying to be your only vehicle—just your most charming one. For local errands, school pickups, or a guilt-free zip to the farmer’s market, it makes a lot of sense (and could turn a few heads). The micro-EV segment is growing fast for a reason: people are realizing that sometimes, small is just right.
