Processor Base Frequency: 2.90 GHz. Max Turbo Frequency: 4.10 GHz. It's NEW in the factory sealed box. No issues are noticed. Core i5-9400F processor. Cores: 6 (hexa-core). NEW in factory sealed box.
Recently one of the neighborhood kids came to me with $900 he saved from summer jobs and asked if I could build him a gaming system. This is the CPU I chose for his build. Yes, an i7 would have been ideal, but keeping in mind this is a budget build I chose what I though was the best bang for the buck. The 6 cores combines with an RTX 2060 GPU should allow most games to be pushed to their limit. I've always purchased Intel CPUs because in the 30+ years I've been building computers I have literally only run across one bad Intel CPU. Can't same the same for the other big manufacturer, not even close.
Upgraded from a Pentium Gold 5400 and it's a noticeable difference in running multiple applications. The Pentium was adequate but when using more than web browsing you now need more cores to keep things running smoothly.
The i5 9400F is a reliable good enough WFH and gaming option. I have it paired on a cheap b365m board forced to Max all core turbo 24/7 and 16gb of ram. It honestly even pushes a 2080Ti to within 10-20fps of a 9900k at 5.0ghz.
Nice CPU, has some weight on it but the problem is the included "thermal solution" as Intel calls it. The heatsink is lightweight and thin which is not a good sign.
Outstanding product came in on time undamaged unopened installed in my system worked grate couldn't ask for better product will recommend this to friend or family thank you
