GHOST HUNTERS SERIES 2 DVD
This 3 dvd box set is simply a must for all who are interested in the paranormal. produced by William (Tomorrows World) Woollard back in 1996 this is the second series made for the discovery channel. I first came across the first series about ten years ago on SKY which was obviously on re-runs and was hooked. Each episode covers different theries/stories by real people who have experienced paranormal activities such as Ghosts, poltergeists, strange phenomenen etc and told in a very easy manner. The first series (also available on delta dvd) consists of 4 dvds with 3 episodes per disc. The second series is on 3dvds and has 14 episodes in total. Examples of stories include: BATTLEFIELD OF THE SOMME, TALES FROM DARTMOOR, RIPPLES IN TIME, HOLY GHOST BUSTER, PHANTOMS OF CHINGLE HALL and many others. I would recommend these dvd sets most highly and they certainly make you think! STAR RATING *****

Never Say Never Again
1983 was the year of the fictious 'Battle of the Bonds'. Well good old Roger Moore was saving the world for the sixth time as 007 in the official EON productions James Bond movie'Octopussy' and for the first time in 12 years the original 007 Sean Connery was back in the role as Bond in the rival movie 'Never Say Never Again' which is basically a re-make of 1965's 'Thunderball'. The movie is quite alot of fun and it was good to see Sean back as Bond although he looked all of his 53 years. The cast was good, including Kim Basinger, Max Von Sydow, Barbara Carrera and Klaus Maria Brandauer as 'Largo' and well cast in their respective roles. Edward Fox makes an uneasy 'M' and Pamela Salem flutters the eyelashes as 'Moneypenny'. Alec Cowan tries (and fails) as 'Q' Algy and one is crying out for dear Desmond Llewelyn but alas not. The worst part of the entire movie is the dreadful music score by Michel Legrand - a mis-match of dire noise and the occasional coherant sound of a proper orchestra at work. The big problem is that as this was an un-official Bond movie they were not allowed to use the'James Bond'theme at all and that really turned this into another action movie rather than a Bond movie. No gu-barrel at the beginning for the same reasons! It is worth adding to your collection of Bond films as a completist but it is not up there with the others in terms of overall quality and design - Roger Moore had the much better deal in 'Octopussy' which thrashed this movie at the box-office and in my opinion was a far better film - Roger won the 'battle of the Bonds' - nobody does it better!

JAMES BOND GADGETS
NOW PAY ATTENTION 007! THIS DVD FROM THE HISTORY CHANNEL FEATURES THE VARIOUS GADGETS THAT HAVE HELPED JAMES BOND TO SURVIVE OVER 40 YEARS IN THE CINEMA. THERE IS THE JET PACK AS USED BY SEAN CONNERY AS 007 TO ESCAPE THE CHATEAU IN 'THUNDERBALL' AND THE AQUA TOW SLEDS FROM THE SAME FILM. ALSO FEATURED IS 'LITTLE NELLIE' THE ONE MAN COPTER FROM 1967'S 'YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE' AND THE 'Q'BOAT FROM PIERCE BROSNAN'S THIRD OUTING AS BOND IN 1999'S 'THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH'. REMEMBER THE FANTASTIC PRE-CREDIT SEQUENCE FROM ROGER MOORE'S SIXTH OUTING IN 'OCTOPUSSY' WITH THAT MINI-JET - THATS HERE TOO AND FOR FANS OF OO7'S MOTOR CARS COMES THE QUINTESSENTIAL GADGET; THE ASTON MARTIN DB5 AND BRINGING IT UP TO DATE IS THE ASTON MARTIN V-12 VANQUISH. THE HORNET BARREL ROLL FROM 'THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN' ALSO APPEARS AS WELL AS MANY OTHER WONDERS OFFERED BY MAJOR BOOTHROYD OVER THE YEARS. OF PARTICULAR INTEREST TO ME IS A VERY RARE INTERVIEW WITH THE LATE GREAT LEGENDARY BOND PRODUCER ALBERT R. (CUBBY) BROCCOLI FROM THE LATE 70'S AS WELL AS A FURTHER INTERVIEW WITH THE LOVELY DANA BROCCOLI. THIS IS A GREAT DVD AND IS ESSENTIAL TO ANY JAMES BOND COLLECTION - NOBODY DOES IT BETTER!
