All Guardian Anchors feature Mud Palms designed to help the anchor set faster in any type of sea bottom. Mud Palms create a "lift" to the crown of the anchor, causing the flukes to point more directly to the seabed.
This is the best anchor ever. Excellent design, well manufactured, good finish and very light. Best of all it performs so well. At only 3 lbs. it holds my 19' boat in rough waves without any problem, have never had it break free, and when I'm ready to go, its easy to retrieve. I use this anchor paired with 10' of galvanized chain and up to 200' of braided nylon line, as needed.
I bought the anchor as a back up. I currently have the same one on my 23ft boat currently. I use it with 10 ft of 5/16 inch chain and the Guardian anchor works much better than the previous danford and heavy plow type anchors I had been using previously. I fish man made reefs in our area which have a lot of concrete type rubble. I have had it stuck a few times but was able to pull it off with anchor bouy set up. It did bend the arms but was able to straighten them out to be used again. I did snap one of the arms off one time but got the anchor back. Called Guardian and they sent out a replacement for a reasonable fee.
I bought these anchors for a 19.5 foot boat for anchoring at the Lake Erie beaches, which can see a lot of waves from winds and other boaters. The anchors dig in quickly and hold the boat in place well. Not to mention that they are so easy to use with their light weight.
