Replaced OEM CV carb 1999 Suzuki QUADRUNNER. This carb smaller dia both sides so fabricated custom spacers to fit manifold and air box. Only needed one vac line to fuel pump because converted OEM fuel valve. Changed slide cap throttle cable tube to 90 degree - modified OEM throttle cable to incorporate adjustment coupling (will be converting enricher manual knob to OEM on handle bar). Drilled idle screw head and silver soldered extended flex cable. Started right up, tuned air screw and test drove... ran great... in process of doing spark plug - mixture checks. Note: there is NO number on main jet so if need to change will need to find a jet gauge to know where to start (didn't look at pilot... yet don't want to mess with it if don't need). Much simpler than the CV yet works!
If you are looking for a quality VM26 carb make sure you purchase the Mikuni 8074 model, NOT the 606 model.
Mikuni makes 2 different VM26 carbs. This one, the VM26-606 and the VM26-8074. The 606 is considered the ‘short bodied model,’ and is not made to the quality that you would expect from Mikuni. This model would be at home on a 50cc pit bike and jetting options are quite limited. The 8074 model, on the other hand, is the Mikuni you expect. Top quality, full size, and standard jets so full tuning options.
Overall the quality is fine. There were a few nicks and high metal burrs that needed to be addressed with a file. Also would be nice if the flange adaptor could be added as an option. Would like to see the drain tube longer.
It's just a great carburetor and responds well to tuning,..ie, jetting, needle height adjustment, float level......I lowered the float level just a smidgen and reduced the pilot jet from a 22.5 to a 20 and was able to tune it out with the fuel/air mixture screw and it runs strong all the way from low end, mid range and top end.....added what feels like 2 extra hp to my lifan 125cc...Great carburetor and great price compared to others offering the same carburetor.
