The labeling on the paper disc inside the case does still say it uses MABL technology, which they seemed to have stopped producing in the US; abrading/engraving into the inorganic material is what provides its longevity compared to conventional burning on organic dye layers.
Excellent for long-term archiving. For example as a backup in the event of a disaster. Much more robust than HDD, SSD or magnetic tapes. The disks still work even after they have been in water for a long time.
