Great yarn produces great socks!
I can always count on Opal sock yarn for working up to make great socks! There's just enough nylon to give the fiber strength and durability and the wool is very good quality and color. The striping and design are very attractive and the repeat pattern makes it easy to knit up two socks that match! I recommend this yarn especially for knitters who are just learning to knit socks as it creates beautiful end results that will encourage you to knit more pairs.

Lightweight but heavy duty ear warmers!
In single digit (and below!) temperatures these keep my ears VERY warm and they also block out the wind. They are easy to put on with a good amount of stretch of the band and they also tighten easily to create a comfortable and secure fit that does not need constant re-adjusting. Because the band goes around the back of the neck, it is also possible to also wear a hat over them when extra warmth and protection is needed. When they're not being worn, they become very compact and can easily fit into a pocket for storage.
